Fluctuations and Rheology of Active Bacterial Suspensions

Abstract

We present measurements of fluctuations and mechanical response in an active bacterial suspension using optical microscopy. Taken together, these measurements enable us to observe uniquely non-equilibrium effects such as Fluctuation-Dissipation theorem violation.
