Abstract

Ultracold neutral plasmas are formed by photoionizing laser-cooled atoms. The resulting plasmas are the coldest neutral plasmas ever formed, exhibiting a rich variety of behavior, including Rydberg atom formation, driven expansion, and plasma instabilities.
