Evanescent Field Atom Optics Using Micro-Tapered Fibers

Abstract

We present initial results obtained using an evanescent field of a tapered optical fibre for trapping and guiding cold, neutral atoms. Losses through the fibre are monitored in order to detect atom-light coupling.
