Abstract

I will discuss two recent theoretical works related to the general goal of detecting quantum behaviour in optomechanical and electromechanical systems. The first involves single quadrature detection below the standard quantum limit; the second involves detecting energy quantization using a weak energy detector. Both schemes should be realizable in recent experiments using cavity detectors.
