Abstract

A new type of polarimetric interferometer is introduced. It consists of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and the original polarimeter as the polarization detector of the light which is associated with the interferometer. The critical thickness of soap films which are about to break were measured with the polarimetric interferometer as the demonstration experiment. The critical thickness of the soap film was found to be around 5 nm.
