History of the Higgs Boson and Recent Discoveries at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The particle referred to as the Higgs boson has been a centerpiece of the Standard Model of elementary particle physics ever since it was theoretically proposed almost 50 years ago. The history of the Higgs boson and the recent observations by the ATLAS and CMS experiments will be reviewed.
