Enhancing Optical Functionalities of Silicon with Photonic Crystal Nanocavities

Abstract

We show that far-field optimized PhC nanocavities can greatly enhance linear and nonlinear optical effects in silicon, thus providing a unique platform for the realization of nanoscale devices with advanced optical functionalities at room temperature.
