Enhanced Stability of Gas-Phase LIBS with Femtosecond Lasers

Abstract

We demonstrate a significant enhancement in the shot-to-shot stability of gas-phase LIBS by using a femtosecond laser rather than a nanosecond one. This reflects different physics in the breakdown process.
