High harmonic probes of inner electron sub-cycle dynamics in molecules

Abstract

Electrons below the highest occupied orbital can contribute significantly to strong field laser-atom ionization. The high harmonics produced by these inner electrons reveal sub-cycle intramolecular dynamics. We show examples in H2O and N2.
