Optical Lattice Clocks with Performance Better than 1×10−17

Abstract

Two atomic clocks near the Quantum Projection Noise limit of 1000 atoms are compared better than 1×10−17 fractional stability. A systematic evaluation of one of the clocks shows an overall uncertainty below 1×10−17.
