Squeezing quantum noise in a full scale gravitational wave interferometer

Abstract

We have demonstrated sensitivity improvement in a full scale interferometric gravitational wave detector using squeezed states. Our results indicate that squeezing is a technically feasible and astrophysically promising early upgrade to Advanced LIGO.
