Optomechanics with a sub-wavelength grating inside a Fabry-Perot cavity

Abstract

We place a silicon nitride membrane incorporating a subwavelength grating in the middle of an optical cavity. The high reflectivity of the grating couples the two sub-cavities with a normal mode splitting of 55 MHz.
