Quantum vortex microscope for observing two-dimensional vortex dynamics in Bose-Einstein condensates

Abstract

We have demonstrated in situ detection of two-dimensional vortex distributions in a single-component Bose-Einstein condensate. We discuss development of the next generation quantum vortex microscope and implications for observations of superfluid dynamics.
