Abstract

We investigate nonlinear spectral broadening in GeSbS chalcogenide waveguides. Nonlinear phase shift of self-phase modulation induced-broadened spectrum allows us to extract a nonlinear parameter of ~7 W−1/m. Supercontinuum is generated using 500fs pulses, and a 14 fold spectral broadening with respect to the input spectrum is observed. The broadened spectrum spans 1280 nm to 2120 nm at the −30 dB level, representing broadening close to an octave.
