Free-standing SU-8 optical waveguides for dense photonic integration

Abstract

Air-suspended polymeric waveguides of small footprint suitable for dense packed photonic integrated circuits were developed and evaluated. Low propagation and bending losses at 1550 nm reported. Proposed waveguides are suitable for telecommunications and sensing applications.
