Metal-enhanced lasing from zinc-doped GaAs nanowires

Abstract

We observe enhanced optically excited lasing and decreased lasing threshold in Zn doped GaAs laid on gold and silver films. The enhancement is attributed to energy transfer between the stimulated emission in the NWs and surface plasmons in the metal.
