Detecting rotational vacuum friction by optically levitated nanorotor

Abstract

We propose to measure rotational vacuum friction between an optically levitated nanosphere and a nearby surface. We show the feasibility by analyzing the calculated vacuum friction torque with the air damping and the sensitivity.
