Passive Polarization Rotator in Thin-Film Lithium Niobate

Abstract

When a thin-film L iNbO3 waveguide i s o riented o bliquely t o its crystallo-graphic Z axis, its TE and TM modes become coupled. We leverage this phenomenon to design the waveguide as a passive polarization rotator.
