Suboptimal Maximum Likelihood Detection for Free Space Optical Communication System

Abstract

This paper investigates the suboptimal maximum likelihood detection for atmosphere channels. Simulation results show that the performance loss is quite small compared with lower bound given by maximum likelihood symbol by symbol detection.
