Abstract
We describe 32 x 32 Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (GmAPD) focal plane arrays (FPAs) with single-photon sensitive pixels and asynchronous free-running operation. These FPAs support both direct detection and coherent detection LIDAR imaging from very long-range standoff distances as well as emerging applications of GmAPD FPAs such as target acquisition, tracking, and pointing (ATP) and free-space optical communications (FSOC).
