Abstract
Laser has demonstrated many important applications, including machining, welding, surface treating, additive manufacturing etc. Multiple hybrid processes had been developed, including laser assisted mechanical machining and water assisted laser machining. This paper will discuss the strength and challenges of laser material processing, comment on the value of hybrid processes, and point out the trend towards Intelligent Energy Field Manufacturing.
