The Pupil-Difference Probability Density as a tool for understanding OTF

Abstract

We introduce the concept of pupil-difference probability density (PDPD) and discuss its use to study optical performance. We illustrate its use in understanding the effects of mid-spatial frequency (MSF) structures and quadratic surface errors.
