Abstract

In investigations of above-threshold ionization (ATI)1, we have shown that ponderomotive forces dominate photoelectron angular distributions at high laser intensities. The experiments employ 1064 nm 100 psec laser pulses or their harmonics, to ionize xenon and other rare gases, with peak intensities up to 1014 w/cm2.
