Synchronization of Optical Polarization Conversion and Scattering in Chiral Fibers

Abstract

Polarization conversion and scattering are synchronized in birefringent fiber twisted with nonuniform pitch so that one incident polarization eigenstate is strongly scattered while the other is freely transmitted. This makes possible a broadband linear polarizer.
