Abstract
We investigated the near-field and far-field optical properties of silver and tungsten sub-wavelength annular apertures (SAA) experimentally and performed FDTD simulations. From the results, we found that cylindrical surface plasmons (CSP) not only increase optical transmission, but they also help to focus the sub-wavelength and create a non-diffracting spot.
