Toy Model for Metamaterials Incorporating Gain

Abstract

We introduce and solve a simple model that can describe plasmonic resonances coupled to two-level-system gain via evanescent (local) fields. Analytic solutions reveal avoided crossings, Fano resonances, and steady-state gain pinning of the “lasing spaser”.
