Variations in atmospheric refractive index associated with ground-based turbulence at the Mauna Kea Observatory

Abstract

Horizontal and vertical variations in the refractive index structure parameter (Cn2) within the surface boundary layer in the Mauna Kea summit area are quantified. The contribution of ground-based turbulence to the value of Cn2 integrated through the entire atmosphere is determined.
