Abstract

We are developing a system to track the linear movement of cosmic ray particles in three dimensional space. This knowledge-based system applies techniques of distributed problem solving to image processing. Distributed problem solving is the cooperative solution of a single problem by a group of decentralized and loosely coupled knowledge sources. Mutual sharing of information is necessary because none of the knowledge sources is independently capable of arriving at the solution from the incomplete, and possibly inconsistent, information that is locally available to it.
