Abstract

The CCD focal plane convolver is a smart optical sensor capable of off-loading the massive number of multiplies and additions required for extracting many of the spatial primatives required in optical pattern recognition; most spatial and temperal convolutions can be extracted at extremely rapid rates and in parallel.
