Abstract

The feature extraction filter in visual neurophysiology known as the novelty filter¹ has been identified to be the first feedback term of the iterative expansion of the sensory mapping point spread function (psf), [S], which was modeled after the human visual system's (HVS) lateral subtractive inhibition (SI) neural mechanism².
