Abstract

The feature extraction filter in visual neurophysiology known as the novelty filter1 has been identified to be the first feedback term of the iterative expansion of the sensory mapping point spread function (psf), [S], which was modeled after the human visual system's (HVS) lateral subtractive inhibition (SI) neural mechanism2.
