Assessment of intervertebral disks viability with quantitative photoacoustic tomography

Abstract

Intervertebral disks face age-related changes in their composition. We propose photoacoustic imaging to measure the relative water/collagen composition in depth. The feasibility is illustrated on a numerical phantom of a disk.
