Abstract
We theoretically present optically controlled tuned terahertz metamaterials with an approximate tuning range of 22%. A redshift in the resonant frequency from 0.92 THz to 0.71 THz was theoretically achieved. The simulation results revealed that the modulation depth could reach to 97%. At the meanwhile, the short carrier lifetime (2.1 ns) of photoexcited electron in gallium arsenide might lead to rapid modulation speed.
