Abstract

"Disability Glare" is a term which is used to specify a number of different deficits in visual function which result from the presence of a light source in the visual field that is some distance from the visual task under investigation, such as detection of a spot of light or discrimination between two or more objects. In most instances, the "glare" effect can be attributed entirely to a veiling luminance produced by intra-ocular light scatter, and it is not the result of neural lateral interaction effects.
