Optimized acoustic refractive index profiles for suppression of stimulated Brillouin scattering in large core fibers

Abstract

We use an approximation for the Brillouin gain in optical fibers to find the antiguiding acoustic refractive index profile that minimizes the gain. We also calculate the Brillouin gain with BPM, with good agreement.
