Optical Biasing in Direct Detection Optical-OFDM for Improving Receiver Sensitivity

Abstract

We show that replacing of electrical by an optical biasing minimizes the nonlinearity effect of an optical modulator. This allows the amplitude of the driving signal to be increased which increases the robustness towards distortion.
