Physical Contact Connection of Single-Mode Fiber with Cleaved and Unpolished Endface

Abstract

The physical contact connection of an SMF with a return loss of more than 50 dB is achieved by using the cleaved fiber endface. The fiber endface requirements and appropriate cleaving conditions are clarified.
