Abstract

Phase conjugating mirrors (PCMs) are useful for improving the beam quality of solid state lasers by compensating the thermal induced phase distortions. This was shown successfully with oscillators [1] and double pass amplifier systems |2, 3]. PCMs could be realized easily using the nonlinear effect of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS).
