Abstract

When pump depletion is fully taken into account the nonlinear parametric interaction of an intense central frequency wave with a couple of Stokes and antiStokes frequency-shifted waves in a single-mode optical fiber exhibits bifurcations of spatial eigensolutions and spatial instabilities. Potential applications of such instability are discussed.
