Abstract

Recent papers were published [1-3] where the idea of amplification without population inversion associated with the interference of different transitions was proposed. In one paper [2] four-level atoms with two upper levels which are purely lifetime broadened and decay to an identical continuum were considered. Two other papers [1,3] were connected with three-level systems in the Λ configuration interacting with the same quasimonochromatic field at both optical transitions.
