Abstract

The effect of detuning of the laser cavity from resonance with the material transition frequency on the response of a single mode laser to modulation of parameters has been investigated for the two-level rate equation model [1,2]. However, in order to satisfactorily compare the results of this type of analysis with experiments on a CO2 laser, it has been shown that a more sophisticated model [3] that incorporates the vibrational and rotation level structure of the CO2 molecule must be used.
