Abstract

Nonlinearly driven lasers are an excellent testbed for studying the phenomenology of nonlinear dynamics. In [1] and [2], a wide variety of behavior is observed experimentally: e.g., bistability, hysteresis, and period doubling cascades to chaos. Although much analysis to date on the nonlinear driven laser has been local [3,5], in this paper we discuss the global bifurcations in terms of the modulation amplitude [4].
