Degenerate Period Doubling Route to Chaos in the Casperson-Instability Simplified Model

Abstract

A low-dimensional model of the "Casperson Instability" showing regular self-pulsing behavior in the 4D space is presented. The projection on to the 3D subspace exhibits period doubling bifurcations to chaos with increasing the level of excitation.
