Abstract
The dynamical effects of a resonant absorber contained in a ring cavity with lenses is considered using the Maxwell-Bloch equations and Kirchoff’s diffraction integral. We see considerable differences in dynamical behavior and injection-locking threshold between systems that consider polarization and systems where the polarization is adiabatically eliminated. By ramping the external signal, hysteresis effects are clearly different.
