Abstract

The interest in multiple core couplers increasing in last few years is connected with their potential applications to the optical fibre networks. One of the common geometries is the 1×7 single-mode fiber coupler, consisted of central core and six identical cores situated on the ring, which exhibits a capability of optical power splitting and a good coupling uniformity [1-4]. The ammount of power switched from the central core to the ring ones depends on the geometry of the device. Power dependent switching between central core and ring cores can be obtained in the 1×7 fiber coupler with Kerr nonlinearity [5].
