Abstract

Self trapping of coherent light beams in nonlinear media has been extensively studied in last three decades or so. Recently however, it has been experimentally [1,2] and theoretically [3] demonstrated that self trapped partially incoherent bright beams are also possible in biased photorefractive crystals. Incoherent bright photorefractive spatial solitons were also lately identified using a self-consistent multimode approach [4]. At this point, it is by no means clear whether incoherent dark solitons are also possible in biased photorefractive media. Moreover, if this is the case, it will be of interest to understand their coherence properties or fluctuation statistics during propagation.
