Abstract

Recent experiments have demonstrated that nonlinear materials with the second-order (χ(2)) non-linearities can be used not only for harmonic and parametric generation but also in applications to all-optical switching for which nonlinear phase distortions are required: spatial soliton-like waves on cascaded χ(2) × χ(2) nonlinearity permit the implementation of second-order processes to the all-optical switching [1, 2]. However in the temporal domain soliton-like waves on χ(2) × χ(2) nonlinearity are difficult to achieve because of low second-order dispersion in most nonlinear materials.
