Abstract
Optical phase conjugation (OPC) and dispersion management are both techniques for improving high-speed optical communication systems using very short (width < 10 ps) solitons. OPC can be used at either the fiber mid-point [1, 2] or periodically [3, 4] to reduce Gordon-Haus jitter and soliton-soliton interactions. Similarly, dispersion management can be used to reduce jitter as well as the effects of soliton collisions in WDM systems [5, 6].
