Abstract

Arrays of coherently coupled VCSELs were exhibited [1]. The VCSEL, which combines a nonlinear medium with a two dimensional optical resonator, enables the formation of complex optical field patterns. We present experimentally and theoretically coupled VCSEL arrays with novel emission patterns, in which each element is emitting an optical field vortex (or several vortices [3]).
