Abstract

Although gap solitons, since their discovery by Chen and Mills [1] attracted a great deal of attention, mathematical aspects of their existence have not been addressed, so far. This problem is naturally related to the role of high harmonics in the gap soliton evolution especially in the cases when there are no small parameters in the problem.
