Abstract
Optical waveguide structures allow to light beams for some interaction effects having no analogs in bulk media. These are, for example, interactions of guided modes with the same polarization but with different mode indices. The one of such effects is the longitudinal intermode interference of light beams. It was observed and studied in planar glass waveguides and in Ti - diffused LiNbO3 waveguide.
